Final Fabrication

Drawing File
 Sketch/STL File
Final Product

Some machines can be very precise, but when it comes to 3D printing there is just an error that comes with it. Most machines can do a lot more then the human can, but with certain natural looking things its so much better if a human makes it.

I do feel that drawings really help reflect how it is supposed to be fabricated. These drawings have to be flexible but still show the concept. These drawings show dimensions and other vital information that words just couldn't explain.

I think that when people go to send their object in for fabrication an animated file should be included. It really helps show how the parts get put together and I think it would fit really well in that part of the process.

Maker Faire reflection

From what I have been told about our showcase is it seemed a little cramped and basic but that is difficult because of the amount of space we had. We think that we could have been more organized and a little more prepared. A lot of the other showcases were inspirational to us. From the survey it seemed that the majority of the people who played the game were actually very pleased with it. They did have a few complaints like it was very difficult and other little issues. I think that we need to clean up the game and focus more on the details since we didn't have the time to before Maker Faire. I think that we also need to provide a good way to know how to get out of the maze like a little mini map or something like that.

Maker Faire Booth

This is how I would design our Maker Faire booth to look like. I think that if we put the over head view of the maze on the tri-folds it would really help the players out. I think that we really have reached our goals in trying to make out game and present ourselves professionally. I think that we really reached all of our goals and that we kept on trying to reach further with our game. I think that is what makes our game so unique and very original.

Maker Faire reflection post

This week there were some issues with trying to keep everyone on track and with their projects. It's also hard to have everyone working on something seeing that there is not a collaborative program.

There successes we had were that we started building the Forrest level on unity. We are also are starting to figure out how to texture the coliseum.

Hopefully we can start to figure out AIs and finish the Forrest level at the end of next week.

Maker Faire Job

The first job I would like to do is some sort of oversight job. I learned how to watch and keep people on track with a job and deadlines ever since I joined leadership. I have been managing the technology group in leadership for the past 3 years and I have learned how to report information to other people and things like that. I think that could help keep is on track and keep us moving forward.

The second job that I think would best suit me would be some sort of level/building design. I am very into three dimensional building design seeing that I would like to be an architect. I have created buildings and designs for houses in my spare time. I would really enjoy being able to create a level for the game that we are making.

Dimensioning

Size Dimensioning is something that shows how big the object itself really is. While on the other hand location dimensions show where something should be placed exactly.

Chain Dimensioning goes from one point to an end point then from that end point to another end point and continues from there. Datum Dimensioning is when you dimension out from the same start point to a different end point. I feel like chain dimensioning will create less deviation because it shows explicitly how much the part should be.

Written Description is much harder to understand then a dimensioned drawing. However they both still explain the process to which to create an object. The dimesioned drawing is much easier because it shows how the object should look

Maker Faire Game Research: Assassin's Creed

This game was developed by Ubisoft. For me to actually like and enjoy a game it takes a lot. I really am not a gamer. I easily get bored so the games that interest me are very specific. The reason I really found this game intriguing was the whole sandbox layout. Sandbox really means that there is a real storyline but as well as the option in this whole world there are small little side mission as well as the choice to interact with the different responsive characters in the game. They decided to develope this game after they had created an earlier game in the serious. They chose the location because they sort of threw the idea out there in a game before with small little symbols. This game was created as a continuation of a very long series about this band of assassins with in the world spanning over several years in history.

Reverse engineering: Automblox

Visual:
The designers of this car tried to mimic the look of a race car. There are certain aspects of this care that are added to show the complete design of a car. The under body gray pieces show the different curves of a car. All of the objects are proportional to the look of a real life car
Functional Analysis:
1. The purpose of this object is to allow children a lot of fun with a toy. It is also to mimic an actual car.
2.
3. A)On the axle there are little ridges on the end that when the wheel is put on it all the way the ridges block the wheel from falling off.
    B)Yes my hypothesis was right.
C)The connectors allow each of the pieces to click into the other well enough so that they can be sturdy when put together and need a certain amount of force to pull apart.
    D)Yes my hypothesis was correct.
E)The raised ridge patter allow the connectors to come apart from the car.
F)The wheels are wrapped in rubber allowing for traction. The edges on almost everything are rounded so that kids don't hurt themselves.
4)Inputs: Force
Output:the car will move or you can pull the car apart
Structrual:
 1. The point of revese engineering is to look at every aspect of the product at hand. It doesn't mean destroying the product. It means looking more in depth into why certain things were done.
 2. If I were to improve the Automblox I would probably make the toy more interchangeable. So that kids can experiment with different kinds of car customizations.

Form follows function.

This was a very hard topic to work with. It was hard to not try to do a whole "product improvement" thing but instead find something that can WORK BETTER and still look astetically pleasing. I tried to think of items that I have issues with. An object that constantly causes issues in my daily life. I cooked over the weekend and went to go and grab the pot handle and burnt my hand cause it was so hot. So the idea I came up with was a removable handle so that once you put the pot on the stove you can take the handle off to keep it from heating up.

AutomoBlox

This is how far I got. I had a lot of fun trying to figure out how everything was created. It was a really good experience. The most challenging part was trying to figure out the star of the passenger base. The most fun was seeing all the picture and then the extrusion come together.

Cube Puzzle Reflection Post

This project really showed why it is so important to go through every step of the design process. I found out that in order to not make a mistake while building the actual product you have to have a very detailed design. This help ensure that the product will be complete the first time you do it. Like when ever you are building something they say, "Measure twice, cut once." it the same with designing, "design for weeks, build once."

When I had originally designed my puzzle I only used the constraints between edges. I tended to have a constraint on every different axis of each of the different pieces. Then because I didn't really know how to make a presentation file I removed all the constraints because I thought that this stopped me from moving each piece individually. So by the end of the project I didn't have any constraints on my assembly file.

When people say that they used the design process to solve the problem at hand, in layman's terms, it means that they spent a good deal of time trying to solve this project before creating a solution. In technical terms it means that the person first found out what the problem was, then brainstormed possible solutions, next started to develop their solution by first hand drawing and the by computer designing it, finally they created this solution that they designed and let other provide feedback for them to use to improve on.

This puzzle was a way of us to all learn how much the design process helps when creating a product. It was a really fun project especially because the more difficult you tried to make the puzzle the harder it was to design.

Mid Puzzle Design Challenge

Part possibility brainstorming:
There were a lot of possibilities but it was really fun thinking of the different shapes to be made.
Two possible solutions:
Figuring out how to make all the blocks interlock was really difficult. Once you figure it out though it is a lot of fun.
Cake layer #1:
Cake layer #2:
Multiview sketches for each solution:
These sketches really help you view every piece from the different sides.
Inventor Drawings:
Inventor was a lot of fun to use. I really got to explore how much inventor could do.

Project Solution:
Making this video was really hard but really cool once I got the hang of it.

Cube Quality Control

My data doesn't appear to be normal because the number of the lager sized cubes seems to be a lot greater than the number of cubes around the average. It actually seems to be skewed to the left a little bit.

Fling Machine

This was a really cool project. It was fun to learn how to use the materials we have to make something so unique. My partner and I while brainstorming we had three designs. We originally decided to make the one on the right and use that but at the end we decided to use the one on the left. I do wish that we could have had more testing time so that it would be able to be tweaked a little bit so that it would be perfect. My partner and I worked really well together because as I would put out an idea he wouldn't shoot it down but would expand on it that's why we had three ideas. It's always good to have back up plans.
